BUILDING A FUTURE FOUNDATION

Building a Future Foundation (BAF Foundation) is a special purpose foundation that is established with the sole and only purpose to create a future for the youth along the coastal areas affected by tsunami by bringing in new activities, technologies, skills and trainings in order to generate such economic activities and employment opportunities. This foundation, promoted and founded by Mr. Pierre Pringiers, Honorary Consul of Belgium to Sri Lanka and Mr. Tissa Jinasena, Director of Jinasena group of companies in Sri Lanka, will be a long term extension of the tsunami rehabilitation carried out by the Solideal Loadstar Rehabilitation Trust (SLRT) which repaired 160 fishing boats, 350 engines, built 20 new fishing boats and will be completing the construction of 720 houses by the end of 2006.

MISSION OF BUILDING A FUTURE FOUNDATION

To introduce and promote any activity, industry, technology, design, skills or trainings which will create such activities, markets, technologies or industries that were not available before in Sri Lanka and which will enable to lift up the general living standards and generate (self)employment for the youth.
BAF specifically aspires at training youth into new business opportunities and skills that could commercially thrive in indigenous economic environments and to empower them with the required hard and soft skills and the infrastructure to capitalise on those opportunities.
Indeed in the frame of the world globalisation, one thinks generally about the negative impact of relocation of labour intensive industries from the Western world in to the Third World countries. In the light of this it is very important to recognise and develop methodologies to harness the huge potential for internal development by sawing the seeds of technology knowledge and skills to create indigenously based economic activities.

In order to support and collect the necessary funds for the development program of the Building a Future Foundation in Sri Lanka , a fund raising organisation (feitelijke vereniging) has been established in Belgium under the name: Building a Future.Be.
