Partnership for Fisheries Development in Angola
Early 2011, the Building A Future Foundation joined hands with Mr.Willy Versluys, Manager of a Brevisco BVBA andDr.ir. Hans Polet, Head of the Fisheries Technology Research Group at ILVO (Institute for agricultural and fisheries research) to propose solutions for the development of the fisheries in the Province of Luanda, the Province of Namibe and the Province of Cunene in Angola.
We collaborate directly with the local authorities of the 3 provinces to improve their fisheries industry with the objectives to:

- Contribute to the food security of the population.

- Increase the fisheries and aquaculture production within the limits ofsustainable exploitation.

- Educate local fishermen, craftsmen, biologists and managers.
- Develop a local supporting industry, small scale and realistic.
- Develop with respect for the needs of the local people and for local culture and tradition.
- Contribute to the food security of the population.

A proposal has been submitted to the local authorities of the Province of Cunene to initiate a first project with a step by step approach based on education and passing on knowledge.
Cooperation will be set up between the people of Angola, Sri Lanka and Flanders, mainly on the topics of scientific expertise in fisheries and aquaculture, and education of fishermen, boat craftsmen and mechanics.
